A Helping Hand During our Challenging Time

"A Helping Hand During our Challenging Time"

The weight of worry pressed down on Mr. Worathep Suwankasap, a father at his 40s. His world revolved around his precious daughter, Nichakan Suwankasap or Nong Aey. Nong Aey had battled hydrocephalus, a condition that required a drain excess fluid from her young brain.

For years, a medical team at Phitsanulok Hospital managed her condition until February 2024. A resurgence of the illness gripped Nong Aey, leading to another surgery. But this time, her condition deepened, requiring an urgent transfer to the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health in Bangkok on 13 February 2024. That journey to Bangkok was sudden and unplanned for Mr. Worathep and his family. Being from the province, the huge city of Bangkok made them much more worried, especially about finding a place to stay. How could they afford a long treatment for their daughter with the high cost of living?

Just when they were overwhelmed with anxiety, a bright spot emerged. Nong Aey’s kind doctor told them about Ronald McDonald House or Ban Mac (in Thai), a safe place for families. Going inside felt like a warm hug. Suddenly, they didn't have to worry about paying for a place to stay or traveling back and forth for a distance of over 380 kilometers from their sick child. Mr. Worathep could finally be near his daughter, a quiet comfort in her delicate state.
